How to read this page

These are published electoral rolls. Every elector shown is on a roll the Election Commission and the state CEOs publish. Nothing here is private data and nothing here is inferred about an individual.
The roll is still being loaded, and every figure here grows. Some states hold no roll in the index yet, and the largest are too big to add up in one go, so they are counted district by district and their figure is a floor. The India map says which is which, so a blank state reads as a gap in the data rather than a fault on the page. Nothing on this page is a count of the electorate, it is a count of what the index holds at the moment you loaded it.
Every figure counts people. A voter is published on both the draft and the final roll of the same year, so the raw roll has about two entries per person. Everything on this page is measured inside a single roll so that a voter is counted once.
Community figures are estimates about a population. They are read from name markers over the voters whose names could be read, and are never attached to an individual. No voter on this page carries a religion, caste or community label. The surname map behind them is published in full.
Polling booths have no boundaries. The Commission does not publish them and they are redrawn at every revision, so the map stops at the constituency.
